This year’s summer exhibition revolves around the passing of time, around care as an act and impermanence as a condition. The works engage with what endures and what decays: rituals and traditions, memories and longing; the structures that sustain us, and the scars that bear witness to the past.

[…]; take care; […] invites us to reflect on what we choose to carry with us, what we leave behind, and how we live with the knowledge that everything is in motion. Like parentheses framing an action, the title points toward that which is withheld, preserved, or passed on. Throughout the exhibition, care is understood not only as protection but also as the capacity to embrace the temporary. To take care may mean holding on, but it can also mean letting go. The exhibition presents works attuned to slow processes and uncertain transitions, and together they form a testament to our relationship with time, ritual, and transformation.

The exhibition has been curated from an anonymous open call by a jury of young artists, and all exhibitors were born in the 21st century.

This exhibition is part of the Oslo Art and Knowledge Workshop, initiated by Kunsthall Oslo in 2021 and organized in collaboration with Agenda X. The project’s long-term goal is to create new opportunities for young people from less privileged backgrounds to take part in the production of contemporary art and culture. The Oslo Art and Knowledge Workshop is supported by the Norwegian Arts Council (Kulturrådet) and Sparebankstiftelsen DNB. Kunsthall Oslo receives support from the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and the City of Oslo.
