Four free workshops with at Kunsthall Oslo
We invite you to join a discussion about how the global economy works and what the ideology of petro-masculinity (Cara Daggett) means, in a series of open workshops with the artist. The workshops invite participants to discuss, modify, or critique the ideas underlying the exhibition and its map of the world system, with the aim of sharing knowledge and reaching a better collective understanding.

Holdhus’s show at Kunsthall Oslo dramatises the legacy of the coupling of benzene to testosterone, inspired by Cara Daggett’s concept of petro-masculinity. Fifteen sculptures – somewhere between mannequins and scarecrows, built from literally toxic creosote-soaked salvaged wood – represent fifteen characters who each play a part in this contemporary play of petro-masculinity, from the Patagonia-wearing tech bro, to the Viking biker, to the art-world frequent-flyer heading for the Deutsche Bank lounge. As context for these sculptures, Holdhus has sketched an outline map of the global economic system onto the gallery floor.
Lars Holdhus is an artist, musician and activist based in Oslo.
