Kunsthall Oslo har gleden av å presentere den første soloutstillingen til den Aten-baserte samiske kunstneren niilas helander.

helander er poet, billedkunstner og forfatter. Arbeidet hans tar opp temaer som historie, kulturel hukommelse, politikk og representasjon, spesielt i sammenheng med spørsmål rundt land og språk, migrasjon og dekoloniale kampsaker. I utstillingen No Demands presenterer helander fotografier, tekst, skulptur, veggmaleri og et opptak av sangen til spurvefuglen regenthonningeteren. Utstillingen inkluderer også videoverket Mouth to Mouth av Theresa Hak Kyung Cha og et opptak av poeten Yahya Hassan som leser diktet STOOL IKKE PÅ NOGEN.
Utstillingen er ledsaget av publikasjonen Nomadtekst – redigert av helander og Maja Hammarén med tekster av helander, Amiri Baraka, Essex Hemphill, Britt Kramvig, Audre Lorde, Diane di Prima og Mary Ailonieida Sombán Mari.

Onsdag 23.februar kl 17-20 holder helander poesiskriveverkstedet Writing From Place på Kunsthall Oslo. Workshopen er gratis og åpen for alle, men har begrensede antall plasser.
