Studio Report #5 – Fatou Åsbakk
Prosessen er for lett sa Lasse, du må kalle den noe annet
[The process is too easy said Lasse, you should call it something else]
Friday 21st-Sunday 23rd January 2022
Opening and performance Thursday 20th January 6-8pm

Kunsthall Oslo is very pleased to present a new project by Oslo-based artist Fatou Åsbakk, the fifth iteration of our current series of Studio Reports,

In her installation Prosessen er for lett sa Lasse, du må kalle den noe annet  [The process is too easy said Lasse, you should call it something else] Åsbakk has staged the creation process of her second novel, Sans og samling, which she is currently writing. The development of a fictional character whose speculations and self-analysis slowly break away from consensual reality is entangled with Åsbakk’s own research and reflections around the work-in-progress. The gallery presentation includes two films, a new wall drawing and a black psychotherapist’s couch, and serves as the setting for a performance reading of the new novel’s first chapter.

Fatou Åsbakk was born in Oslo in 1984 and graduated with a Master’s degree from the Oslo National Academy of Arts in 2019. Her debut novel Været og uvirksomheten was published by Kolon in 2020.
