Please join us for the opening on Friday 29th August 7-9pm

Kunsthall Oslo is very pleased to present Hundred Dreams, One Night – Sabi, a new-commissioned solo exhibition by Thomas Bliss. Centred around a series of recent, large-scale canvases, this ambitious show takes the street art-inflected practice that Bliss is known for and extends it to connect with his Sierra Leonean heritage. Vivid, fable-like scenes are disrupted by the darker realities of contemporary life, the pop-art edges of past works giving way to a new figurative language, looser and more painterly but still animated by the spontaneous energy of the artist’s graffiti writing background. The show reflects life’s constant chaos—mental currents, existential tensions, and the flood of dreams—and our attempt to navigate it. Sabi (Krio: wisdom through experience) guides this journey. Bliss will also present new clay works, sculptural vases that echo the figures in the paintings.

A limited edition magazine-format catalogue accompanies the show. This publication will be launched on 12th September, as part of Bjørvika Art Night, with a conversation between Bliss and cultural journalist Faduma Mohamud.

Thomas Bliss is a Norwegian-Sierra Leonean artist currently studying at the Oslo National Academy of Arts. Alongside his graffiti practice, he has had several solo exhibitions at Bl_nk gallery, Oslo and recently took part in the group show Veien Hjem Igjen/Home at Buskerud Kunstsenter. Bliss previously studied at Asker kunstskole, and won the Drømmestipend prize in 2020.
