Kunsthall Oslo presents the inauguration of Terje Nicolaisen's Museo de Pasatiempo (Adapted version) Friday August 20th 20.00

Terje Nicolaisen has licensed Kunsthall Oslo to produce an adapted version of his Museo de Pasatiempo (2001). The Museo is an artist's multiple in the form of a tabletop game, in which the player takes on the role of a museum curator. The adapted version of the Museo – a 1600% enlargement – will now function as part of the exhibition architecture at Kunsthall Oslo.
Museo de Pasatiempo - The ultimate game for art people! Instructions: 1. Find a flat surface and put together the five largest pieces to form a museal space. 2. Use the smallest piece as an artwork and place it in the space. 3. Observe the placement, lighting and expression that you have chosen. Repeat the procedure as many times as you like. 4. Alternatively, find other domestic objects and place them around. 5. When you have finished playing, the game can be used as a decorative element in your home.
Nicolaisen (b.1964, Drammen) lives and works in Oslo. His painting, drawing, sculpture and performance practice has been exhibited widely, most recently in a solo exhibition at Tromsø Kunstforening (2010). Henie Onstad Kunstsenter and Kunstnerforbudnet, Oslo will both present new work by Nicolaisen in February 2011.
“In many respects Terje Nicolaisen’s artistic practice constitutes a dérive, where the concrete city is exchanged for the artworld. ... The different aspects and possibilities of the artworld are utilized for their (attracting and repulsive) qualities, while at the same time making these qualities into a subject in its own right.” (Garde Eide Einarsson)
