Join us for this celebration of Norwegian feminist art and the long awaited publication of the book – Hold stenhårdt fast på greia di, by Jorunn Veiteberg.

There will be music, cakes, refreshments and speeches.  All are welcome!

This publication is a result of Hold stenhårdt fast på greia di: Norwegian art and feminism 1968-89, the first major exhibition to consider the connections between artistic practice and the feminist movement in Norway. The exhibition presented an overview of the many ways in which second-wave feminist ideas contributed to a transformation of the accepted subjects and methods of contemporary art in Norway, and highlighted the contribution that artists made to the public representation of the women’s movement.

The exhibition in 2013 was curated by Eline Mugaas, Elise Storsveen and Kunsthall Oslo with invaluable knowledge and assistance from, among others, Jorunn Veiteberg, Wencke Mühleisen, Elisabeth Haarr, Morten Krohg and Elsebet Rahlff.

The book features an essay by Jorunn Veiteberg, which provides a unique insight into Norwegian art and feminism in the period, as well as a broad and inspiring collection of visual material. The editorial group consisted of the artists Elise Storsveen, Eline Mugaas, Wencke Mühleisen with Jorunn Veiteberg and Kunsthall Oslo. Ulf Carlsson designed the book and Nina Schønsby produced it. The book has been purchased for libraries and will shortly be found on library shelves throughout Norway. We also hope it finds its way on to reading lists at art schools around the country.

The publication was generously supported by Arts Council Norway
