Richard Serra

Richard Serra is an American artist born in 1939. He is part of the Minimalist movement.

Richard Serra is known for his monumental metal sculptures that closely interact with their environment. Using weight and gravity, Serra stages the dramatic and sometimes the unstable. His works create a feeling of smallness for the spectator, who can usually enter the space of the sculptures. Among his most famous works are Titled Arc (1981, Federal Plaza, New York), Fulcrum (1987, Liverpool Street Station, London) and Snake (1994-97, Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao).
