‘Run, comrade, the old world is behind you’ is a series of 23 presentations of artists’ work, screenings, talks and performances, one for each day that Kunsthall Oslo is open between 16.09.11 and 16.10.11. Artworks and films will remain installed in the gallery but, throughout its duration, ‘Run, comrade…’ will be a work in progress. The project will begin with a performance in an empty space and assemble day by day into a group exhibition. The exhibition will be incomplete until its final day, while several of the performance works will leave no trace behind.

‘Run, comrade…’ will disrupt the usual gallery rhythm to present works that engage with the relationship between the past, the present and the future, or with questions of instability, of agency and of change. From Dan Wolgers’ absurdist mechanical sculpture that does almost, but not quite, nothing at all, the show will expand through improvised music, sculpture and performance to include works that address contemporary events, and the related political and economic questions, more directly.

The exhibition is supported by Office for Contemporary Art Norway.
